How Hobby Hay Came to be
My journey in farming began by helping out on my family’s grain and livestock operation while growing up. In 1988 I continued on the family legacy and took my seat as a 5th generation farmer. I began raising hay for my own livestock and in the mid 1990’s started to sell excess hay to my neighbors. And so sparked the beginning of Hobby Hay.
In the year 2000 I took land out of row crop production to plant alfalfa orchard grass mix which I sold to the equine and dairy market. Fast forward to 2020 we sold our first hay to small animal owners. Then in 2023 we shipped our first boxed hay to inner city small animal owners, and so became Hobby Hay.
A Note From Loren
Welcome to Hobby Hay, where farming is not just a job, but a lifelong passion and purpose. As the owner, I am deeply committed to not only supporting my family but also being a steward of the land, ensuring its sustainability for generations to come. Providing high-quality hay for small pet owners is not just about business; it's about ensuring the health and happiness of beloved furry companions. One of the most rewarding aspects of this journey is the opportunity to connect with customers, hearing their stories, and being able to assist them in any way possible. At Hobby Hay Farm, we're more than just farmers; we're dedicated to making a positive impact on both animals and their owners' lives.
